Beef Noodle Soup + Tendon + Rich & Spicy
Hands down one of the best beef noodle soups I have ever had. As a note, we did go all out and splurged on extra tendon and upgraded to a richer/spicier broth.  I highly recommend upgrading to the richer/spicier broth. The broth has a huge flavor but at the same time it’s very clean. The beef is delicious and you’re given three 1/4″ thick slices – I personally prefer my beef to come in cubed chunks. There’s also the option of choosing the style of noodle, wide or thick. Either way, the noodles were  cooked perfectly to that “QQ” texture.

Homemade Soft Tofu, Century Egg, Sweet Soy w/ Bonito
The tofu is amazing. It’s immediately noticeable that it’s homemade with that soft but firm texture. The bonito flakes add a nice crunch to the over all dish. My one minor criticism would be I wish there was more century egg.

If you’re going to have one main dish on the menu, it better be amazing. In the case Ho Foods, they take the Taiwanese beef noodle soup and elevate it to a near godly level of tastiness. It’s evident that there must have been years of focus on perfecting the recipe because every component of the bowl is amazing. This pursuit of perfection is reflected in the long lines out the door.

Be prepared to wait. The space is very small, with roughly 10 tightly packed seats in total. Luckily, there are a couple bars around which can help you pass the time. The one really cool detail I enjoyed is the choking sign. As an Asian American I appreciated that the sign is illustrated using Jeremy Lin and Eddie Huang. Asian pride….

There are so many styles and variations of the Taiwanese beef noodle soup that it’s impossible to say what’s “authentic.” Ho Foods definitely carves a place for itself at the top of the list for their version of the Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup. I am now a huge fan and Ho Foods is my new goto noodle joint every time I visit NYC. I wish them great success and hopefully they expand into a larger space.
